Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about UK drone service pricing.

Why do drone prices vary so much between drone pilots?
Prices vary based on drone pilot experience (1-10+ years), equipment quality (consumer to industrial), certifications held, insurance coverage, location, and specializations. A drone pilot with thermal imaging equipment and 5+ years experience will naturally charge more than someone with a basic consumer drone doing residential photos.
What's typically included in the hourly rate?
Most hourly rates include the drone pilot's time on site, basic drone operation, standard photo/video capture, basic editing, and standard commercial insurance. Additional costs may apply for specialist equipment rentals, extensive post-production/3D modeling, rush delivery, or travel beyond 25 miles.
Do all drone pilots charge for travel costs?
Most local drone pilots include the first 25 miles in their base rate. Beyond that radius, expect to pay £0.45-0.85 per mile each way. For very remote locations requiring overnight stays to complete a multi-day shoot, accommodation costs (£100-150/night) may apply.
Are drone service prices negotiable?
Prices may be negotiable for repeat work, retained contracts, or flexible scheduling. Do not compare price alone: check the proposed scope, relevant experience, equipment, current insurance, permissions, processing, deliverables, and terms.
Do prices include VAT?
The planning ranges on this page should be read as excluding VAT unless stated otherwise. An independent pilot's quote should say clearly whether VAT applies and whether the total shown includes it. Confirm this before booking.
What happens if weather cancels the flight?
Policies vary. Ask the independent pilot to state what happens if weather prevents flight, including rescheduling windows, travel already incurred, cancellation charges, and whether a repeat visit is included.
