Is drone volumetric data accepted by the Environment Agency for permit reporting?

Yes, provided the survey methodology is documented, the ground control is traceable, and residual accuracy is published with the report. Our drone operators supply a full method statement, GCP log, and processing parameters alongside the volumetric output, ready for your annual performance return.

How accurate are void volume calculations?

With RTK or PPK ground control, network operators routinely deliver point clouds with 2–5 cm vertical residuals. On a typical cell that gives volumetric reconciliation against weighbridge tonnage well inside 2%, which is more than adequate for permit reporting and commercial reconciliation.

Can drones detect methane hotspots?

Standard thermal payloads don't measure methane directly — they detect warm zones consistent with gas migration or thin cover. That makes them an excellent triage tool, pointing FID teams and specialist TDLAS or laser-methane sensors at the areas that actually need walking.

Can you verify daily cover compliance?

Yes. A late-afternoon orthomosaic plus a thin-cover anomaly flag is a far more defensible record of daily cover than a hand-written foreman's log. Many drone operators offer a weekly or daily cover-verification service as a fixed-price compliance subscription.
